Have you ever written a song?

Recently I told you about a website called Bring My Song To Life and you can read that review HERE.  This site is actually a part of another site, called Tunedly, and today I am excited to tell you about my experience with the Tunedly process.  Where Bring My Song To Life will write and record a song for you, Tunedly is for songwriters.

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved to write.  I write poetry, stories and song lyrics (which is probably my favorite thing to write).  I usually don't choose what to write, I write what pops in to my head.  The words just come to me, line by line, and stick in my head until I write them down.  If it's going to be a poem, I just get the words.  But if it's going to be a song, the words in my head are accompanied by a tune.  The problem I have when I write a song is, while my lyrics have a tune and I can sing it, I don't do music.  I don't play any instruments and I can't write music.  I have always wished that I had a way to add music to my songs.  And now I do... with Tunedly.  And just an FYI: you retain all rights to your song when you use Tunedly for any music production service.

Tunedly connects songwriters with musicians, singers and audio engineers to produce their songs.  You will be able to collaborate with some of the most talented people working in the music industry.  If you don't play any instruments and need music added to your lyrics, a composer will create the perfect sound for your song.  (If you already have your own music, they will use that instead of composing the music for you.  But I am reviewing my own experience and will be describing the process when you don't have music to provide them.) You can review their available musicians and choose the ones you would like to work with (they have samples of their work that you can listen to).  Or you can choose to let them decide who you will collaborate with.

Tunedly offers different price packages depending on what you choose to include.  A Vocals only package costs $75 for Professional Lead Vocals and a Rough Mix.  The Small Band package costs $427 for Professional Lead Vocals, three Instruments and Pro Mixing and Mastering.  And for $549 you can get the Full Band Package which includes Professional Lead Vocals, five Instruments and Pro Mixing and Mastering.  There are also different add ons that you can choose for an additional $75 each, like Background Vocals and additional instruments.  The time it takes to complete your song varies depending on which package and how many add ons you choose.

You can choose your Project Manager, Singer, Musicians, etc. based on their profiles and examples of their work, or you can let them choose for you.  They will then take your lyrics (and your tune if you have one) and compose the music for them.  (I recorded myself singing part of my song to give them an idea of what I had in mind. I also chose Rock Ballad as the genre to give them an idea of the type of "feel" I wanted my song to have.  They used that to create the music to fit the tune.)  Once you approve the music that they compose, they move on to add the vocals and to create the final Master Recording.  I really liked that they provided me with audio recordings for each step, allowing me to approve what they had done, or to request a redo.  This ensured that I was happy with the final Master Recording.

This has been such a great experience for me!  Every single person that I dealt with from Tunedly was extremely nice, talented and helpful.  My Project Manager answered all of my questions, no matter how big or small.  He kept me informed of the progress of my song and thoroughly explained each step of the process along the way.  It was obvious that he cared about the project and wanted to produce the best possible Master Recording of my song that he could.  And that final Master Recording of my song sounds far better than I ever imagined it could.  I love it so much that I can't stop listening to it!

Once your Master Recording is completed, you can stop here if you wish.  But Tunedly offers a few other awesome services as well.  You can get your song Transcribed into a chord sheet for a fee of $50.

For $25 you can get a Critique of your song (the critique will be made up of the opinions of a group of 40 different listeners) to get an indication of Market Potential, Song Rating and an analysis of lyrics, instrumentation, commerciality, artist, vocals, track and production.  The critique will come from SoundOut, which is one of the largest music, art and fashion market research companies. The results will be presented to you in an easy to understand visual one pager.

You can also submit your song for placement.  If you submit it, it will be strictly evaluated by Tunedly's A&R Department.  If they think that your song is marketable, it will be accepted and they will offer you a publishing contract.  They will then start trying to place it in film, TV, ads and with artists across the world.  Only songs they truly believe in will receive a publishing offer.  I chose to go this route and my song is currently being evaluated.  But whether it is accepted or not, this has been a wonderful experience for me... one I never expected to have.  Truly a dream come true!

  1. My youngest kiddo has written a few of his own songs! It's such a fun, creative process to watch.

    1. Yes, it is very fun! It's fun for the writer as well! I have always enjoyed writing. And my experience with Tunedly was really exciting for me. They take away all of the confusion of the whole process. Through it all, I knew that my song was in good hands.

  2. What a great review, very informative and accurate! I have recorded dozens of songs with Tunedly, Truth is, I no longer record anywhere else. The quality is top shelf. Give them something to work with and you'll be ecstatic with the results. Great musicians and vocalists. Most of them are songwriters themselves, so they truly get it. They understand how important your song is to you and you can see it in their work. Absolutely wonderful people to work with! I highly recommend them if you're thinking about recording a song.

  3. I totally agree with Michelle and 'Unknown' above. I've been using Tunedly's song production services as well as their pitching platform almost since they began back in 2016. What they offer is second to none from composition through to master. Chris and Mylene have assembled a top shelf team of musicians/producers/engineers who, in my experience, always go the extra mile to give their clients exactly what they were seeking and almost always a song that can compete with the best of what's being released today as well as retro songs that can confidently stand alongside some of those from back in the day. Over the years I've tried quite a few production outfits but I have to say none come near Tunedly. If you're looking to get your lyrics or rough demo's turned into something you will be proud to put out there I know from experience that you won't find a better place to do that than Tunedly.
