Not your ordinary gift idea, but it's an awesome one

I received these products from Gym-N-Eat Crickets for review.  If you have someone on your gift list who likes unusual gifts, someone who is adventurous enough to try a food that many are hesitant to try, then this one is for you!  And what is this mysterious food?  Wait for it...CRICKETS!

Now, I know some of you are cringing, but it's really not that unusual in most of the world.  The eating of insects is called Entomophagy and over 1000 species of insects are known to be eaten by 80% of the world's population.  Crickets are actually very nutritious.  They are very high in quality, complete protein (including all nine essential amino acids).  They're a good source of iron, calcium, B-12, omegas and fiber.  In fact, eating crickets is also good for the planet as well because it takes a fraction on the food, water and land to produce the the same amount of protein as traditional sources, such as beef, pork and chicken.

I received a Try It All Bundle which is priced at $50.  You get six 0.5 oz packs of Roasted Crickets in different flavors, six different flavors of Energy Bars and one 4 oz pack of 100% Cricket Powder.  You can also buy each item individually or in smaller variety packs.  The Roasted Crickets come in the following flavors:  Buffalo Ranch (the spicy heat of buffalo perfectly compliments the cool kick of ranch), Dill Pickle (has a hint of garlic and dill paired with a splash of vinegar), Fiesta (somewhere at the crossroads between your favorite tacos and nacho chips, this crowd pleasing flavor was born), Hot & Spicy (a sprinkle of spices and chili powder), Sea Salt & Pepper (a hit of salt and a kick of pepper) and Smokey BBQ (a zing of sweet, flavorful BBQ with a satisfying crunch).

These Cricket Energy Bars are great for a grab and go breakfast, lunch or a quick snack any time you need one.  They come in six flavors.  Lemon, Banana Bread (all of the flavor, but none of the gluten or added sugar), Chocolate Sea Salt, Apple Cinnamon, Chocolate Mocha and Salted Caramel.

This is 100% Cricket Powder and it is exactly what it sounds like:  powdered crickets.  There are no fillers and no junk, just crickets.
This versatile powder can easily be incorporated into your daily routine.  It blends well in smoothies and can be added to your favorite baked goods for an additional kick of nutrition.  It has a very mild flavor that is often described as slightly nutty.  If you visit the Gym-N-Eat Crickets website and click on "Fun Stuff", you will find recipes to use your cricket powder.

It is important to note that if you have a shellfish allergy, you might have a reaction to crickets as well.  Crickets are arthropods, meaning they are related to cretaceous shellfish (shrimp, lobster and other sea bugs).

So what are you waiting for?  Be brave and give them a try!
