Backyard Water Fun

One of my favorite childhood memories is playing with the water hose in the back yard.  We didn't have a swimming pool, so my brothers and sisters and I relied on my Dad's garden hoses to cool off on a hot summer day.  To meet the demands of 9 kids trying to stay cool, you need a tough, lightweight and durable garden hose like the Eley water hoses that you can find on the Eley Hose Reels website.

Dad always had several watering hoses because he grew a huge vegetable garden every year and my Mom had beautiful flower beds full of peonies, tulips, hyacinths, marigolds, roses and more.  Our yard always smelled heavenly!

Dad used sprinklers to water his plants, but we would always move them into the yard so we could run through them or just stand there and let the sprinkling water drench us.

My favorite water game was to grab the yard hose, set the nozzle on high and proceed to spray all of my siblings.  We could spend hours in the yard playing with the hoses, drinking directly from the hose when we got thirsty so we didn't have to stop to go get a drink of water.

At the end of the day we'd be exhausted, dripping wet, a little sunburned and so very happy.  And we would be anxious for the next day to begin so we could do it all over again.

These days, most families don't take the time for simple pleasure like running through the sprinklers or spraying each other with a water hose.  If you haven't done this with your kids, I highly recommend that you try it.  It's a fantastic way to spend fun bonding time together.  You'll spend the day smiling, laughing and making memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
