These Classics Reimagined Horror Tales are perfect to read during Halloween!

I received these books from Quarto Publishing Group for review.  These books are all part of the Classics Reimagined series of books from Rockport Publishers.  The names of the authors (Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Louis Stevenson and H.G. Wells) are all instantly recognizable by just about everyone.  The Classics Reimagined series is a library of stunning collector's editions of unabridged classic novels illustrated by contemporary artists from around the world.  Each artist offers his or her own unique, visual, interpretation of the most well-loved, widely read, and avidly collected literature from renowned authors.  These books are perfect for introducing young readers to the classics, or for reacquainting yourself with them.

This beautifully illustrated Deluxe Edition of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein celebrates the  Bicentennial (200th) Anniversary of the original 1818 version.  This hardcover book has 256 pages and features an 8 page vellum insert that details the doctor's designs.  It also has a full-bleed gate fold image of the monster and is finished with printed endpapers.  This masterpiece volume of the greatest novel in the monster genre is perfect for book lovers and art lovers alike.

The suspense and horror of Dr. Frankenstein reanimating assembled body parts, the monster spying on an unknowing family, and the creature's revenge on his maker take on a whole new meaning when accompanied by renowned artist David  Plunkert's mystical, layered interpretations.

Award winning illustrator Tina Berning adds her haunting and colorful interpretation to Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  This classic gothic tale explores the duality of human nature.  Follow London lawyer Gabriel John Utterson as he investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll and the evil Edward Hyde.

“All human beings, as we meet them, are commingled out of good and evil: and Edward Hyde, alone, in the ranks of mankind, was pure evil.”
–Robert Louis Stevenson, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

The Time Machine is a masterpiece of invention and story telling from the father of science fiction, H.G. Wells.  The stunning modern illustration by the studio team Ale + Ale (Italian artists Alessandro Lecis and Alessandra Panseri) will completely captivate you.

In this unabridged classic, the time-traveling protagonist is propelled by his machine to the distant year of 802,701 AD. To his horror, he finds only a decaying Earth that is being gradually swallowed by the Sun, and two strange species (the delicate Eloi and the fierce, subterranean Morlocks) inhabiting it. The Time Machine is a must-read for any science-fiction fan.
